Luxury Mauritian Rum

Mauritius — Mango Bay, a new premium luxury Mauritian rum, has officially launched, bringing together the island’s sugarcane heritage, distinctive rum-making traditions and extraordinary biodiversity in a contemporary expression created for the global market.

At the heart of Mango Bay is J. Arthur Rackham, Master Maker & Blender, whose career in premium spirits spans more than four decades. His journey led him to Mauritius — the Jewel of the Indian Ocean — and to a collaboration with the family-owned Oxenham Craft Distillery, bringing together two family businesses with a shared commitment to craftsmanship, provenance and quality.

Mango Bay combines two distinctive Mauritian rum traditions: molasses and pure sugarcane juice.

Rackham's final blend brings together three Mauritian rums: 50% VS molasses rum, aged for at least three years; 25% VSOP molasses rum, aged for at least five years; and 25% Gold pure sugarcane juice rum.

The VS and VSOP rums are matured in Spanish Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, while the pure cane juice rum is matured in French oak. The result is a 100% Mauritian, 100% pot-distilled and entirely additive-free rum, balancing the richness of molasses with the elegance of pure cane juice and the complexity of carefully selected oak.

Mauritius has a centuries-old relationship with sugarcane and rum, shaped by fertile volcanic soils, a tropical climate and generations of local expertise. Mango Bay draws directly from this heritage, using Mauritian sugarcane sourced from local farmers and distilling and maturing its rums on the island.

“Mauritius has extraordinary raw materials, genuine provenance and a rum-making story that deserves to be discovered,” says J. Arthur Rackham. “With Mango Bay, we wanted to bring together the richness of molasses and the elegance of pure cane juice to create something unmistakably Mauritian, but with a character entirely its own.”

Inspired by a mythical bay in paradise, Mango Bay celebrates the wildlife, landscapes and sense of discovery found across Mauritius. Its intricate label draws upon the island’s remarkable biodiversity, bringing together naturalist-inspired illustrations of Mauritian flora and fauna — including its most famous symbol, the dodo.

In the glass, Mango Bay offers ripe tropical fruit, toasted oak and vanilla, layered with raisin, dried fig and sweet sherry spice. A rich, smooth palate follows with caramelised banana, honey, dark chocolate, stone fruit and candied orange peel, leading to a long and elegant finish.

Mango Bay represents an invitation to discover Mauritius as a distinctive premium rum origin — through its sugarcane, craftsmanship, biodiversity and unmistakable sense of place.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Mango Bay.
