Mauritian Bartender Competition

Mango Bay Mauritian Rum, in partnership with Oxenham Craft Distillery, has announced the launch of the Mango Bay Bartender Competition 2026, inviting bartenders from leading hotels, bars and restaurants across Mauritius to showcase their creativity and celebrate the island’s distinctive rum heritage.

The search is on for the next generation of Mauritian rum cocktails.

Participating establishments will nominate a bartender to represent their venue, with each competitor challenged to create two original serves: one using Mango Bay Mauritian Rum and one using Oaks & Ames White Mauritian Rum.

Following the qualification period, 14 finalists — 10 representing hotels and four representing bars and restaurants — will be selected to compete in the Grand Final on 12 November 2026 at the Sir Gaëtan Duval Hotel School of Mauritius.

The finalists will present their original creations to a panel of industry judges, with cocktails evaluated across creativity, balance, technical execution, presentation, storytelling and, importantly, how effectively they showcase the character of each rum.

The overall winner will receive a one-week trip to London, including the opportunity to train alongside internationally renowned bartender Georgi Radev and the team at Laki Kane, developing their craft and gaining first-hand experience within one of the world’s leading cocktail cities.

Created by Master Maker & Blender J. Arthur Rackham in partnership with Oxenham Craft Distillery, Mango Bay brings together Mauritius' two distinctive rum traditions — molasses and pure sugar cane juice — in a premium blend crafted entirely on the island.

The competition forms part of Mango Bay and Oxenham Craft Distillery's wider ambition to champion Mauritius as a premium rum origin while providing a platform for the bartenders shaping the island's contemporary drinks culture.

Registration is open to eligible hotels, bars and restaurants across Mauritius until 15 September 2026, with the 14 finalists announced at a cocktail reception at Thirsty Bistro, Moka, on 28 October 2026.
